Overview
Veneers (porcelain or composite shells) and dental bonding cover the front of a tooth to change its appearance. They are cosmetic dentistry, not whitening - the underlying tooth color is unchanged.
How it works
- A thin layer of restorative material is bonded to the front surface of the tooth.
- Shade, shape, and translucency are chosen at placement.
Best for
- Intrinsic discoloration that does not respond to bleaching.
- Chips, gaps, or shape changes alongside color.
What to consider
- Typically irreversible for porcelain veneers due to enamel preparation.
- Cost and longevity differ significantly between veneers and bonding.
