Ingredient
Carbamide Peroxide
A slower-releasing form of hydrogen peroxide used in trays and LED kits.
How it works. Breaks down into roughly one-third hydrogen peroxide plus urea, extending the active whitening window per session.
Advantages
- Longer active window per session
- Well-suited to tray systems
- Widely available
Potential disadvantages
- Comparable sensitivity profile to hydrogen peroxide at equivalent doses
Common concentrations. 10-35% carbamide peroxide in home kits. Prescription trays commonly 10-22%.
Safety. Similar considerations as hydrogen peroxide.
Evidence strength. Strong
